Testing Your Water

Testing your Water for Lead

The following are ways to test your water for lead:

  1. Send a water sample to a laboratory: A state-approved laboratory can test drinking water from your tap to learn if lead levels are too high. If the water testing results find lead levels at or greater than 15 parts per billion, contact a qualified professional to determine the source of the lead. Please note that the City of Tamarac is not qualified to perform this type of test and cannot determine the source of lead in your home.
  2. Purchase at home test kit for testing your water, use an EPA-approved lead test kit:

If you have a lead or GRR service line on your property, please report it to the City’s Public Services Department (see “Contact Us” page) and have the line replaced by a licensed plumber or contractor.
